Do Your Taxes Yourself
There are two ways that you can do your taxes yourself.
Have an AARP certified expert preparer (“assister”) assist you by telephone or by Google Meet while you work on your computer. Follow this link to have AARP put you in touch with an assister: https://taxaide.aarpfoundation.org/online-self-and-assisted-prep.
Do it all yourself. The IRS approved software vendors can be found here: https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free. There are 10 vendors that will prepare your federal and California returns for free if you meet the income and complexity requirements. You can select whichever vendor you want.
